Secure and Assured with Environment-Specific Updates: GSX-R1100 Custom

 7 min read

Technical Garage RUN's GSX-R1100

The modified Suzuki GSX-R1100 (J) by Technical Garage RUN has garnered attention as the shop's demo bike. The frame has undergone black anodization, and various components have been lightweighted, improved in quality, and modernized. This package serves as an exemplar for comfortable riding of oil-cooled models. Oil-cooled models have a history of over 35 years since the early GSX-R750 and over 15 years since the Bandit 1200.

It is pointed out that it is necessary to consider the condition of bikes and machinery that have aged over time. Even with old household appliances, there is doubt whether they can still be used. The same applies to bikes. Safety and peace of mind are also concerns. Regular replacement and updates are important to prevent material and component degradation. By replacing various parts, even old bikes can meet modern standards and provide a comfortable riding experience. The GSX-R1100 Version Up Complete, which has undergone such improvements, offers an option that considers both the enjoyment of owning an old bike and the effort required.

Handle

The TG-RUN original steering stem and top bridge are adopted. Additionally, the carbon monocoque mirror features the Magical Racing NK-1. The left and right master cylinders have also been updated to Brembo.

Bodyworks

The aluminum fuel tank, manufactured by TG-RUN and Beater, is rust-resistant and offers long-term durability. It is significantly lighter than the original tank. Additionally, it features the same S-mark as the latest models.

The GSX-R1100J features the original exterior color design and is equipped with the stock optional single seat cover. TG-RUN pays special attention to the seat, and it undergoes original modifications.

Engine

The engine is still stock, as the GSX-R1100's 130ps or so power is considered adequate and easy to ride. The camshafts have been replaced with Yoshimura ST-1. Additionally, it is advised to regularly change the oil with good quality and perform tappet adjustments as important maintenance measures.

Intake & Exhaust

The carburetors have been replaced with FCR Φ37mm, and the response has been improved by using a RAM-AIR filter. The aluminum frame remains stock, but it has been treated with black anodization for surface protection.

Chassis

The front forks are Ohlins inverted Φ43mm, and the front brakes feature Brembo 4-piston calipers with Sunstar brake discs. The front fender is also replaced with a carbon fiber.

The rear brake combines a Brembo 2-piston caliper mounted with TG-RUN original support and a Sunstar brake disc.

The rear shock is also replaced with an Ohlins product. The front and rear wheels are converted to 17-inch size using MARCHESINI forged aluminum M7RS Genesi. The swingarm, like the frame, is made of ribbed aluminum and treated with black anodization.
