A clutch lever for the CT125? SP TAKEGAWA releases manual clutch kit for DAX125 and CROSS CUB
The Cub series is known for not having left-hand clutch operation, but a kit to convert the highly popular CT125 Hunter Cub to a manual clutch is now available.
Starting and stopping remains easy without the need for clutch operation
The roots of the Cub series began with the elimination of the left-side clutch lever, to make for for easier operation, as back in the day these bikes were often used by delivery drivers in Japan. However, nowadays, since the Cub is often used as a hobby bike, a need for manual clutch operation has arisen, and SP TAKEGAWA has responded to this need. In 2023, they introduced the "Hydro Clutch Conversion Kit". This kit is designed to convert to a hydraulic manual clutch compatible with the new CT125 Hunter Cub, DAX125, and the new Cross Cub 110.
The kit leaves the primary automatic centrifugal clutch in place, so when starting and stopping the clutch operation is the same as on a regular Cub and no extra operation is required. It allows for manual power interruption when the centrifugal clutch is connected by raising the rpm, and clutch operation is required to shift gears while riding. The shift touch felt by the foot is lightened because the secondary clutch, which used to be activated by the foot when shifting, is now operated by the left hand. Also, although this may be a rare case, when lifting the front end of the bike to go over bumps on rough roads it is possible to remove the front load and make it easier to jump over these bumps by clutch-mating after raising rpm.
Bore up kit and rack container set under development!
SP TAKEGAWA's most noteworthy parts for the 2023 CT125 Hunter Cub are the S-stage bore up kit, sports camshaft, and injection controller "FI-CON TYPE-X", which are all currently under development. With these parts we are expecting increased power that is completely different from stock.
Also under development is a container box with a capacity of 50 liters, ideal for touring use. In addition to the top, it also has two openings that allow loading and unloading from the side. A lineup of 7 colors is planned, and each will come with a bracket compatible with the rear rack of the CT125 Hunter Cub.
The latest 2023 model just released is already fully customized! SP TAKEGAWA's distinctive leg bumper shield kit will be available in June for 44,880 JPY.
Clutch kit can also be installed on DAX125
This bike is also equipped with a hydro clutch conversion kit, which is a great new part since the DAX125 also only comes without a clutch lever. The Black Headlight Guard (16,830 JPY) is a new shape that differs from the CT125 and is the same shape as the custom CL250 model released by Honda. The large Meter Visor Kit (11,880 JPY) looks like it will be great for touring.
