SANCTUARY's Z1000MkII

SANCTUARY_Z1000MkII_01.jpg

Although the recent trend in air-cooled Z series engines is to focus more on longevity rather than more power, proper tuning contributes to longevity. The sleeve had become loose, so the sleeve was replaced and the displacement was increased to 1,045cc. The camshaft was also upgraded to a high camshaft with the Web ST-1, but other than that, proper combustion was pursued through careful balancing and introduction of countermeasure parts. The intake and exhaust were also adjusted with Nitro Racing and Yoshimura's TMR-MJN carburetor for output characteristics to obtain the necessary torque and power in the practical range.

The air-cooled Z series has been skyrocketing in price for more than a decade now. And yet, the condition of the used cars that may be available is only getting worse. Nowadays, most of the people are driving Z series cars as a romantic thing. However, it is not necessarily true that the motorcycle should have low performance or be mere show-offs because it is a romantic motorcycle . The Sanctuary's goal is to continue to be on par with current motorcycle s while still maintaining a sense of romance. The philosophy and passion of the Sanctuary will continue to be incorporated into the RCM, even if the official name of the RCM is changed.

Engine

The oil cooler is a 9-inch 13-stage released by Nitro Racing. The oil pump pressure of the air-cooled Z series is low, and even if the capacity is increased unnecessarily, the oil will remain inside the engine. However, by installing a Sanctuary trochoidal high-pressure oil pump, pressure can be secured to accommodate the increased capacity. Cooling the engine well also extends its longevity, making it an indispensable menu item for the Sanctuary air-cooled Z series customization.

The engine had loose sleeves due to age, so the sleeves were replaced and the displacement was increased.

Intake & Exhaust

The beautifully gloss titanium exhaust is hand-bent by Nitro Racing. The tri-oval type silencer is popular these days, but for this machine, the megaphone type (Grenade VIII), which has been popular for a long time, was installed.

Handle

Daytona RCM Concept Handlebar. RCM's concept parts are often used for RCMs produced by the Sanctuary Group, and these parts are originally developed by each parts manufacturer based on the RCM image. Incidentally, the lettering of "RCM Concept" has now been changed.

Chassis

The front forks are made by Ohlins, but Sanctuary is now sells them as an ExM package that includes the front fenders, its brackets, caliper supports, and other parts needed when replacing the front forks. This package also gains popularity.

The rearsets are made by Nitro Racing, which was developed at Sanctuary for easy operation. The simple shape of the rearsets makes it easy to match any machine and custom style, which is another reason for its popularity in the customization scene.

The frame pivots are spot-faced and the sprockets are offset to the outside to accommodate 180-size rear tires. This is the core of Sanctuary 17-inch conversion menu. The sprocket covers are Nitro Racing Type 1.

The swingarm is made by Sculpture exclusively for RCM. The difference between this machine and the one sold to the general public, which is not RCM-specific, is the difference in the chain puller. The machine also has an optional stabilizer and maintenance stand hooks.

Both front and rear wheels are OZ Racing's, but are adapted from ZRX1200 compatible models. By using wheels from older models, the use of peripheral parts and a wide range of tire options are ensured. The rear brakes are a combination of small-diameter rotors and Brembo 2-pot calipers for easy operation even when cornering.

Brake

Along with the brakes, the clutch side has also been changed to a Brembo radial master. The clutch master is a popular part not only for the RCM but also for other customization projects, as it has an established reputation for its ease of clutch engagement and operability.

The suspension was solidified with the world leading brands: Brembo 4-pot brake calipers, Sunstar RCM Concept Rotor, and O-Z Racing Piega Wheels. These choices were made in pursuit of the highest ideals in providing modern riding performance to the air-cooled Z.
