HOT&COOL's R1-Z

This HOT&COOL RZ-1 Custom is based on the concept of recreating the TZ250 look with its parallel twin-cylinder engine and tubular steel frame that were popular in the mid-1980s. This custom bike is based on the Yamaha R1-Z, a naked motorcycle with a parallel twin engine.

Truss-like reinforcement pipes are attached to the front of the red steel double cradle frame, reminiscent of the mid-1980s TZ250 style. By aligning the bodywork with the TZ style, the similarity between the R1-Z and TZ250 can be greatly enhanced. The front and seat cowl used on this bike are from the '80 TZ250. The fuel tank has an aluminum inner tank and is covered with an FRP cover molded to resemble the TZ250 tank, a clever characteristic of HOT&COOL, which specializes in the RZ series. The wheels are both 17 inches in size, but have been replaced with wire-spoked types, like the '86 TZ250.

Handle

The front cowl and other bodyworks are OEM parts of an '80s TZ250, and the headlight, blinkers, mirrors, and other safety parts have been added for road-legal use.

HURRICANE clip-ons are mounted under the top bridge, and the multi-function type meters are made by Acewell.

Bodyworks

The fuel tank is made of an aluminum inner tank and covered with a TZ tank-style FRP cover molded from a TZ tank.

Intake & Exhaust

The carburetor peeking through a gap in the frame remains stock, while a K2tec straight chamber Type-1 has been installed.

Engine

The engine is fully overhauled. The frame is stock, but they added a handlebar-lock system and had it powder-coated in red like the TZ250.

Chassis

The rearsets are made by Phase, and NITRON mono shock for R1-Z are visible in the background. Additionally, the photo shows the kick starter pedal on the right side.

The front fork and stem remain stock. However, the front brake caliper is a Brembo 4-piston caliper, and the front disc is an Arashi Φ320mm petal type.

The front and rear wheels are wire-spoke wheels (3.00 and 3.50) with TDR250 hubs and EXCEL aluminum rims, leaving them at 17 inches. The swingarm also remains to be stock.
